Historic Venues
Grey Rock Mansion – Pikesville
Grey Rock Mansion sits on the historic estate in which an American Revolution hero and one of Maryland’s founding fathers, Colonel John Eager Howard, was born in 1752. The mansion was built of Maryland grey stone in 1858 by Dr. James Maynard and at the turn of the 20th century, it became the stage for fundraisers and events. The front facade was built to resemble Mount Vernon with an all-white look, a dark red door, and a brick staircase leading up to the 6-column porch. The first-floor rooms have been transformed with replicas of 18th-Century furnishings. The elegant ballroom provides views of a beautiful fragrant garden with a gazebo and water fountain, used for picturesque outdoor ceremonies.
The Cloisters Castle – Pikesville
The historic Cloisters Castle is hidden in 60 acres of Pikesville’s forested hilltop, but the Cloisters is much more than a wooded estate and event venue. Sumner and Dudrea Parker dreamed of constructing an authentic Gothic manor house in the countryside, so, between 1905 and 1929, they set out to gather medieval artifacts, stone, artwork, and antique furniture from all over Europe. Elaborate stained glass, ancient architectural elements, and wood-carved Renaissance features were all saved from chateaus in France and Italy. In, 1932, after years of meticulous construction, their 16th century dream castle was completed. The Parkers eventually opened their home to the public as a museum and then willed the estate to the city of Baltimore. The Cloisters is now an event facility that hosts hundreds of weddings, most famously Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, as well as parties, meetings, etc. The stunning landscape of the estate has been featured in Food Network’s “Ace of Cakes” and several HBO TV series.
Additional Historic Venues:
Gramercy Mansion – Stevenson
Overhills Mansion – Catonsville
Country Clubs
Valley Country Club – Towson
For over 70 years, Valley Country Club has been creating memories as a keystone landmark for Baltimore County weddings and events. Originally acquired by Baltimore Colts’ legend Art Donovan, the Donovan family owns and operates this premier historic venue right in the heart of the county. It provides a classic, elegant wedding backdrop with oriental rugs, crystal chandeliers, and a sweeping wooden staircase. The mid-1800’s estate dons a spacious ballroom and dance floor that accommodates over 200 guests, and an outdoor garden space for ceremonies.
Sparrows Point Country Club – Edgemere
There’s something about a golf course on the water that screams “I Do.” Sparrows Point Country Club in Edgemere showcases the striking beauty of the county’s endless waterfront while displaying the lush greens of the golf course. It’s the only country club in the county that offers a marina with 62 deep water boat slips, which makes for stunningly beautiful photos. The main dining room, more fit for weddings, provides impressive views of Bear Creek. The two terrace spaces share the same view, with each holding less than 70 guests, which is more ideal for birthdays, anniversaries, and meetings. The best part is you don’t have to be a member to reserve your next special occasion.
